This activity counts for 1 volunteer houron the Beijing Volunteer Union system.

What do you think an animal keeper’s job is like?

A career where you can interact closely with animalsand pet them anytime?

A “poop-scooping caretaker”?

 

 

Little do people know, being an animal keeper is far more complex than it looks.Keepers not only observe the animals’ health, clean their living areas, and prepare nutritious meals,but also conduct regular health checks, measure and record growth and development,to ensure the animals live healthy and happy lives.

Activity Schedule

1. 09:40–10:00 Volunteers check in at the Sika Deer Outdoor Exhibit.
2. 10:00–10:05 Host introduces the activity, rules and safety guidelines.
3. 10:05–10:10 Pre-activity training by keepers and introduction to sika deer.
4. 10:10–10:20 Volunteers enter assigned areas, observe sika deer and clean the outdoor exhibit.
5. 10:20–10:25 Knowledge contest with small gifts for correct answers.
6. 10:25–10:40 Prepare food for sika deer and interactive feeding.
7. 10:40–10:50 Drawing session: draw your ideal sika deer.
8. 10:50–11:00 Certificate presentation and group photo.

 
Activity Notes
 
1. Open to participants aged 6–15, limited to 10 families per session.
2. No extra fee for the activity. Volunteers enjoy free park entry; tickets for other family members are at their own cost.
3. Participating families agree to take part in promotional filming during the event and authorize the use of their likeness for future park promotion.
